WHAT ARE PERMANENT BROWS?

Please remove from your mind the horrific images you may have seen of heavily tattooed or microblading eyebrows! We've all heard (or seen) the horror stories... Blue, Black, Green, or even Red pigment that's been left in someone's skin or brows that look more like 'angry birds' than soft, beautiful face framers! Believe me, no one's brows should be walking into the room before them.

Medical grade pigment is inserted into the top layer of your skin to create the illusion of hair strokes or powder-like makeup, giving you semi-permanent brows that can last anywhere between 9 months to 3 years. These treatments are considered cosmetic and aren't as deep as traditional tattoos, which means the pigment can fade over time; unlike traditional tattoos where the ink stays in the dermal layer forever.

I DO NOT recommend traditional tattoo methods or the ink used for these on the face, so please—whether you choose to book with me or not—do your research. Many images circulating online are results of incorrect methods, tools, pigment, and artistry (or lack thereof) being used—often from other countries, as this isn't common practice in the UK. Always ask to see technicians' portfolios, find out where they trained (and for how long), request images of healed results, and gather as much information as you can. Don’t be tempted by offers for significantly cheaper services—this is your beautiful face, and it deserves the best.

You may have encountered various terms for semi-permanent or permanent brow methods and styles, such as Combination Brows, Powder, Ombre, microblading (both manual with a tool or by a machine), Hyper-realism brows, or micropigmentation. You might already be familiar with each of these and what they look like, but if not, don’t worry! I can guide you and explain which option will be right for you based on your preferences and how you'd like your brows to look during your consultation.

In a nutshell, semi-permanent brows should reflect your ideal shape, tailored to your bone structure, face and eye shape, and most importantly—your style! Everyone's version of natural is different, which is why no treatment will proceed with me until we've had a thorough face-to-face consultation. I’ll first give your brows a makeup transformation so that you can visualize how they will look and feel before any more permanent work is carried out.

Please ensure you are familiar with the terms and conditions and the permanent makeup artist's duty of care for this treatment before booking in.

Contraindications

While permanent makeup is suitable for most individuals, there are some who may not be eligible for these treatments. Please read below to determine if you qualify as a candidate for the various treatments offered at L R PRO, including microblading, fusion brow, combination brow, ombre/powder brows, and hyper realism brows.

If you have booked a consultation and patch test, but any of the criteria below apply to you, unfortunately, you will need to cancel your consultation, as I won't be able to proceed with the treatment.

Ineligible without exception:

- You are under 18 years of age (by law, even with parental consent).

- You are pregnant or nursing (the body undergoes hormonal changes and is more prone to infection, leading to unpredictable results).

- You have a pacemaker or major heart problems (I use a numbing agent that can increase your heart rate, possibly causing dysrhythmias).

- You are currently taking blood thinners.

- You suffer from viral infections and/or diseases.

- Anyone with transmittable blood conditions like HIV or Hepatitis.

- You have lupus.

- You have undergone an organ transplant.

- You have any skin condition on or near the area, such as eczema, psoriasis, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, or heavy melasma.

- You’re prone to keloid scarring.

- You use Accutane.

- You are allergic to metal and color.

- You have heavily sun-damaged, very delicate, fragile, sensitive, or problematic skin.

Please inform me if any of the following apply, as you may still be eligible with a GP/doctor/consultant note to proceed with treatment:

- Individuals pre or post-chemotherapy.

- Individuals with diabetes (it is important that your condition is stable and under control).

- Individuals on medications that affect thyroid or hormones (the color of your semi permanent brows could fade quicker).

- High blood pressure (blood pressure must be stable; excessive bleeding during the procedure can dilute or expel the pigment, resulting in poor results).

- Individuals with blood conditions or on blood thinner medication.

- Individuals with immune disorders or conditions.

    Pre Treatment and Aftercare advice

Permanent cosmetic treatments, such as microblading for hyper realism brows, typically require multiple treatment sessions. For optimal results, you will need to return for at least one retouch treatment between 8 - 12 weeks after your initial appointment.

You will be scheduled for this top-up following your first appointment. By booking this, you are committing to the follow-up at the agreed time and date.

If for any reason you are unable to attend your follow-up appointment and need to cancel or reschedule for a later date that goes beyond the 12-week period, an additional fee will apply. Appointments past 12 weeks are no longer considered a 'top-up' due to the need for extra work.

Lucy at L R PRO runs a busy schedule, often booked months in advance, so she may not be able to accommodate your request to change the time and date of your original follow-up (top-up). If L R PRO is fully booked within that 12-week period and you still wish to change, the fee remains applicable.

Be prepared for the color intensity of your semi-permanent brows to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become lighter as the tissue heals, which can take up to 10 days.

    - Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, it is advised that you do not make social plans for the same day.

    - Please wear your usual makeup to the salon on the day of the treatment.

    - Avoid taking Aspirin, ibuprofen, or Coumadin for two days before and two days after the treatment. However, do not stop any medication without consulting your doctor.

    - Do not take multivitamins on the morning of your treatment.

    - Avoid caffeine 24 hours before or on the day of your appointment, including tea, coffee, and other caffeinated drinks like Coke or Red Bull.

    - Refrain from consuming alcohol the night before your treatment.

    - Any waxing should be done at least 48 hours before the treatment.

    - Electrolysis should be performed no less than 5 days before the treatment.

    - Eyebrow tinting should not be done for 2 weeks prior to the treatment.

    - Discontinue Vitamin A/Retinol products 1 month prior to treatment. Please research these ingredients yourself and check your skincare products, as they can appear under different names.

    - Avoid Botox or filler injections at least 1-3 months before getting semi-permanent brows.

    - Do not tan or have intense sun exposure/sunburn 3 days before the treatment.

It is your responsibility to remember and adhere to these guidelines. Ignoring this advice can affect your healed results and is at your own risk.

If you have any questions regarding pre-treatment advice or aftercare, please contact Lucy at L R PRO immediately via WhatsApp at 07594029993 or email lrprostudio@outlook.com.

This immediate aftercare will need to be referred to by yourself following your treatment for microblading. Please remember that I have developed this guide to help you with your hyper realism brows in the very best way possible. Everyone’s immune system is different, and people will heal at different rates and intensities. This guide is exactly that - a guide.

You may experience some of the stages of healing sooner or later depending on your own body, immune systems, and medications. I have also included an image of what the scabbing process looks like - this varies from person to person. Some notice it and others don’t, but it’s here to help prepare and reassure you of what to look out for.

This is everything that would have been explained to you following your treatment for semi permanent brows.

Please ensure you check your aftercare guide or healing guide before messaging Lucy or L R PRO with questions or concerns, as the majority of the time they are answered or stated in this very thorough information pack for you.

To be followed after your new Permanent Brow procedure, proper aftercare is extremely important following your microblading treatment. While the work is carried out by me at your appointment, how you look after your brows will determine your final results; so please follow my instructions carefully to achieve the best possible results for your hyper realism brows.

The initial healing period is 14 days (2 weeks). During this time, please keep your brows dry and follow this advice for the 2 weeks:

    - No Sunbeds or exposure to direct sunlight

    - No swimming, saunas, or steam rooms

    - No skincare or makeup to be applied on or around them

    - No physical activity (exercising such as cardio). This includes the gym, classes, and weight training. You will sweat, whether you see it or not, and this can cause complications such as infection, your skin pushing the pigment out, and poor retention and/or results which can’t be amended at the top-up.

    - Avoid touching the brows as you don't want to run the risk of bacteria entering the skin.

All tattoos carry the inherent risk of infection and/or allergic reaction. These aftercare instructions have been put in place for your benefit. You've invested in your semi permanent brows and face, so please follow through with the whole process.

After this 2-week period, you can carry on your life as normal and can treat your brows the same way you normally would.

    IMMEDIATE AFTERCARE

    - 48 hours after your treatment, please use a damp cotton bud with a bit of water and wipe each brow clean. Pat dry with a towel or tissue and then apply the gel given to you at your appointment to your brows. This is to be done in the evening. Apply a small rice grain to pea-sized amount to each brow. This gel will help cool, soothe, and heal your brows. This cleanse only needs to be done once in 48 hours. Following this, the ointment should be applied every night for the remainder of the 2 weeks (12 nights). Apply using clean fingers or preferably a cotton swab.

Remember to only use a small amount of the gel; you don't need a lot. It's really important not to pick or scratch at the scabs; allow your skin to naturally exfoliate them off.

Please remember to keep this tube of gel safe as you will need to use this again at your top-up appointment. You may purchase an additional tube if you wish.

IMPORTANT: Please follow my guidelines. You can wash your brows and treat them like normal from day 15 - even if you still have some micro scabs (dry/flaky skin). You can continue with your normal skincare routine and products from day 15. Please don't avoid washing your brows from day 15 and go against my advice, as this will impact your results and could cause problems.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: It is normal for the brows to change following your first treatment. Strokes, color, patches, etc. This is why you have a second appointment booked in. Please be patient and trust your treatment plan. Your final results will be visible after your second treatment (aka ‘top-up’).

    Healing process

Here is an example of what hyper realism brows look like when they are healing and 'at their worst.' It isn't really noticeable to anyone else, so there's nothing to be worried about! Up close, you will see that each hairstroke from the microblading process becomes slightly darker as it scabs and flakes off, revealing the semi permanent brows' healed color underneath.
