Colour Boosts at L R PRO

everything you need to know about when your ready for a colour boost:

Once you've had your permanent brow treatment with me, you will need to have a colour boost to revive the shape or colour every 1-3 years. Over time, PMU pigments naturally fade due to skin regeneration, sun exposure, and individual skin chemistry. A colour boost restores vibrancy, sharpness, and definition.

Most people need a boost anywhere between 12–24 months after their original procedure, though some may want it sooner if their pigment fades quickly (which is common for oilier skin types)

During this appointment, I will go over the existing PMU, usually with less intensity than the initial appointment as there will already be pigment residing in your skin so less is required to top it up. Since the shape and base pigment are already there, the focus is on refreshing the colour.

This appointment will keep your permanent makeup looking crisp and fresh, aswell as prolonging the life of the original work, and allows for minor adjustments in tone or shape if desired.

Here are a few points you'll need to know before booking in for a colour boost:

- I can only perform this treatment on existing clients. If you have had your brows done elsewhere, i am unable to colour boost another artist work. Please contact me to discuss your options if you'd like your brows doing by me.

- Your brows MUST be faded by at least 50% before I can implant more pigment into your skin. This is very important.

- You'll go through a short period of time where you'll need to apply brow makeup to them to fill in gaps or correct the shape, but I'd rather you do that for a couple of months and we wait until they're faded enough so that you have results which are beautiful for another 1.5- 2 years.

- Topping them up too soon causes blurring and the strokes wont stay looking natural OR the colour will shift and change in your skin.

- Photos must be taken facing a window so there is as much natural light on them as possible. Please ensure the photo is close enough and clear enough for me to be able to assess the current pigment and skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at lrprostudio@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Most clients will be ready for a colour boost around 12–24 months after the initial permanent makeup procedure, however the exact timing varies for each person.

Here's how to tell if they're ready: The pigment has lightened noticeably, looks patchy, or lacks definition and/or the colour looks dull.

If your pigment still looks fresh and vibrant then you are too soon for a colour boost.

If the pigment has faded almost completely, a new full treatment may be needed instead of a touch-up.

Unfortunately not for a number of reasons:

  1. Everyone fades differently – Skin type, pigment retention, lifestyle (sun exposure, skincare products), and even hormones affect how quickly your PMU fades. Some people need a boost after 12 months, while others last 24 months or more.

  2. Timing matters – Booking too early could mean your colour hasn’t faded enough, so the skin won’t take in fresh pigment properly. Booking too late might mean the pigment has faded so much that it requires a full new treatment, not just a boost.

  3. Assessment is key – I really need to see your healed PMU closer to the time to decide if you’re due for a boost, or if it’s better to wait a bit longer.

  4. Flexibility for best results – By waiting until your pigment has faded to the right stage, you get the most natural and long-lasting refresh.

In short: It’s less about the calendar, and more about your skin and how your pigment heals over time.

Usually 1–2 hours, shorter than the initial procedure since the base shape is already done.

Another 1–3 years, depending on your skin and lifestyle factors (sun exposure, skincare, etc.).

Generally speaking - No, because this is essentially a top up. If for any reason your skin doesn't retain the pigment then an additional 'top up' treatment may be booked in.

Yes, you will need to follow the same pre treatment, care during healing and aftercare as your original appointment. These instructions and details will be sent to you once you have booked in.

Yes, because less work is required, boosts are lower priced than a full set. 1-2 years = £175.00 and 2-3 years = £225.00.

Small tweaks are possible (warmer/cooler tones, slight reshaping), but major changes may need a removal and re-do or they will be classed as a new treatment if you are changing your eyebrow style. (for example- from microblading - hyper realism)
