MCA (Multi Trepanic collagen Actuation) also known as dry needling, is a form of micro needling in which gentle trauma is caused to the skins surface to encourage re- healing in an area of scarring such as wrinkles, surgical scars or burns.
The aim of the procedure is to bring lymphatic fluid to the area, which contains our bodies own melanin to re- pigment a scar, burn or stretch mark. It encourages our bodies elastin to release a burn or take the "pull" off a stretch mark, and our bodies own collagen to plump out indentations such as wrinkles, stretch marks, and indented scarring (like acne scarring)
This treatment is only for fully healed scars. For Post mastectomy scarring - a minimum of 6 months is required before this treatment can be carried out.

This treatment is best for anyone that would like to improve the appearance and feel of scars, and stretch marks. Most people notice a difference after just 1 treatment.

Each case is assessed individually, and suitability depends on scar maturity and skin condition.

Scar tissue is structurally different from healthy skin, because of this, its often denser, less elastic and poorly vascularised.
MCA works by gently disrupting these rigid collagen fibres, which encourages the body to remodel the area over time. This process allows the skin to become more responsive, balanced, and resilient which improves the visual appearance of scars.
New tissue grows into the damaged skin and collegen, elastin and melanin production is stimulated as part of this process.
Loose and sunken stretch marks fill out and appear smoother and firmer. Discoloured scars normalise and skin tone / colour evens out.
Raised or bumpy scars flatten out and become less visible.
Results develop gradually as the skin heals and regenerates. Usually a course of treatments is needed for maximum results.
This treatment cannot be carried out on anyone who has the following :
MCA is often used as a preparatory treatment before 3D areola or medical tattooing.
By improving scar quality, MCA can help pigments implant more evenly, reduce patchiness or uneven retention and improve overall visual outcomes.
MCA does not guarantee tattoo suitability, but it can significantly improve the condition of scarred skin in many cases.
Consultations are mandatory. To ensure patient safety, determine suitability and create a customised treatment plan. Please note: Treatments will be 4-6 weeks apart.
This consultation fee is redeemable against the treatment cost if you choose to proceed.

Most clients describe MCA as uncomfortable rather than painful. Sensation varies depending on scar sensitivity and size. Comfort measures are always prioritised.
It all depends on the type, age, and condition of the scar. Some clients notice improvement after one session, while others benefit from a course of treatments. This will be discussed during consultation.
Initial redness or sensitivity usually settles within a few days. The deeper healing and collagen regeneration occur over several weeks
No. MCA aims to improve scar quality, not erase scars. The goal is softer, flatter, more flexible skin with improved appearance.
Not always. Some scars are suitable for tattooing without preparation. MCA is recommended only when scar tissue may affect pigment retention or final results.
MCA may not be suitable if your scars are still immature, there is active infection or inflammation or certain medical conditions are present.
Suitability is always assessed during consultation.
The skin will be cleansed and assessed, then the treatment is focused only on the scarred area. A specialist medical tattoo machine with a dry sterile needle is used to create precise and controlled micro- puncture in the surface layers of the scar. Numbing cream isn't used because we don't want to restrict the blood flow, so sensation varies but is usually well tolerated. The treatment time depends on scar size and condition.
Redness and mild swelling are common immediately after treatment and usually settle within a short period (24-48hours)
the healing is a gradual process. Initially - you'll notice the area will be red for a few days and then over the next several weeks, the collagen will remodel and the scar will start to look improved in texture and colour.
Multiple sessions may be recommended depending on the scar type and age.
Results continue to improve over time as the skin remodels.
